Goodbye gathering for Dayle Lane Oct. 30

Please join us for an informal drop-in reception to say goodbye to Dayle Lane, assistant director of student engagement . The event will be held from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Owens Student Center Conference Room. Dayle will be leaving us to be closer to family by taking a new job at Florida Southern College.

Condolences to Lauren and Andrew Hinton

Geraldine Hinton, mother-in-law of Health Services employee Lauren Hinton, and grandmother of Brenau student Andrew Hinton, passed away Wednesday Nov. 7.

Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Park North. A memorial service will be held at the same location at noon tomorrow, Nov. 9.

Our condolences go out to to Lauren, Andrew, and family.

Marco’s Pizza Discount Expired

In June we let you know about a 30 percent discount being offered to all Brenau faculty and staff members by the Thompson Bridge Marco’s Pizza. Sadly the manager who offered the discount is no longer with the company, and this discount has been discontinued.

Calling All Crocheters and Knitters

Calling all crocheters and knitters! Student Services in conjunction with Operation Gratitude invites you to make a scarf or hat for a service member in celebration of Veterans Day. Free yarn is available at the switchboard in Owens Student Center. Any pattern will do; we just need your finished contribution by Wednesday, Nov. 7 for shipping. Sympathy and Condolences to Crystal Ball

Our hearts go out to Coordinator of Disability Services Crystal Ball and her family on the death of her son, Nicholas Kicklighter. Nick was killed in a car accident early Sunday morning. We have a limited number of “Keep Brenau Kind” shirts available for $10 each. All proceeds will go directly to the Student Services Opportunity Grant, which is a fund to assist students for short term, emergency needs that may impact their academic success.

Dayle Lane Joins Student Services

Dayle LanePlease join Dr. Amanda Lammers and Student Services in welcoming Dayle Lane, Brenau’s new assistant director of student engagement. In this newly created position, Dayle will primarily assist with student activities, Servant Leader Scholars, and residence life. Dayle is a Women’s College alumna, and since her graduation, has traveled nationwide as a chapter consultant for Alpha Chi Omega sorority. A fun fact about Dayle is that she was a featured extra and stand-in for the recent blockbuster film, Guardians of the Galaxy II.

Eclipse Party on Monday, Aug. 21

Grab your eclipse viewing glasses and join us for a solar eclipse party at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, on the Owens front lawn. Gainesville will be experiencing 99 percent totality at approximately 2:35 p.m., so there’s no need to drive to South Carolina. Stay here instead, avoid the traffic, and enjoy fun, friends and snacks with the Student Services staff and student leaders.  Please bring your own eclipse glasses.

Congratulations, Dr. Lammers

Vice President of Student Services Amanda Lammers is Brenau’s newest doctor of education. Amanda successfully defended her dissertation, “Cullman’s Colleges: A History of Higher Education in Rural Alabama,” on Friday at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
