Constitution Day is Tuesday, Sept. 17, and Brenau is acknowledging it in several ways.

Collection Development Librarian Benji Barton is doing a book/media presentation, featuring the slide above, in the Trustee Library through Sept. 23.

PO 101 American Government class taught by Heather Hollimon will be in the Owens Student Center, the Trustee Library and the entrance of the science building from 9:30-10:50 a.m. giving out red, white and blue baked goods with information about the Constitution.

Student Government Association is hosting a voter registration drive on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Yonah Lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will have laptops set up at the table and paper applications for students to self register.

All-University Meeting Aug. 20

All faculty and staff should plan to attend the university-wide meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Downtown Center (Theatre on the Square). Beverages will be available beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the meeting will begin at 9 a.m.

If you have not submitted your RSVP for the Faculty & Staff Luncheon on Aug. 20, please see the invitation below and complete the RSVP form by Monday,  Aug. 12.

Invitation: To welcome the start of the 2019-2020 academic year, faculty and staff are invited to attend a luncheon with Brenau University President Anne A. Skleder on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at approximately 11:30 a.m., following the All-University meeting. Lunch will include a Q&A session with President Skleder. Please join us as we celebrate the start of an exciting year ahead.

Outstanding Faculty Awards Nominations due Sunday

Brenau University students, faculty and administrators with faculty rank may nominate one faculty member for each award category: one Ann Austin Johnston, one Vulcan Award and two Outstanding Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty Awards.

You will need to complete a separate submission for each person you nominate by Sunday, March 31.

Lunch & Learn on Gender Awareness in Education: Thursday, Jan. 31

Cynthia Alby, professor of teacher education at Georgia College’s John H. Lounsbury College of Education, will provide an introduction to the implications of gender in higher education instruction in the Lunch & Learn from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Library 116,

Alby is lead instructor for the Georgia Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program and an expert in the scholarship of teaching and learning. In this workshop, Alby will present content about pedagogy informed by gender awareness, a topic especially relevant to our relaunching of The Women’s College. Faculty will engage in conversations and exercises designed to employ consideration of gender for positive impact in the classroom.

Zoom attendance will also be available, but you must register for the event to receive your Continuing Professional Education one clock hour and toward the FLDOE-required training.

Parking Closures Friday, May 4

For the Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 4, do not park on Washington Street from Prior to Boulevard. It will be blocked off with barricades around 1 p.m. Also, Boulevard will be blocked from Washington to Brenau Avenue.

Please note these street closings and park at another location on Friday morning.

 

Thanks to all who Helped with Winter Commencement

Wow! Thank you for your attention to details as we celebrated commencement on Saturday, Dec. 16. We spend the better part of a semester planning for the ceremony, and there are so many facets to a successful day. The university shines because of you, and you honor our students with your professionalism and expertise.

We will soon begin to plan for the spring commencement, continuing a pattern of continuous improvement. Your presence at commencement created a warm and welcoming environment for our guests, and your commitment to excellence was most evident.
