Hiring an Office Manager for Physician Assistant Studies

The Brenau University Physician Assistant Studies Department currently has an opening for an Office Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field
  • Office and personnel management experience

Duties and Responsibilities:


Maintain faculty profiles, post messages from chair/faculty, events and developments, maintain departmental calendar

Budget Management

Purchase order requisitions, Budget Manager, credit card statements, secure receipts for various purchases

Office/Classroom Supply Ordering

Maintain orders for department, instructors, classroom

Faculty Support

Handle travel authorization, sick leave, check requisition, travel voucher, payroll/workloads, standardized test ordering, textbook ordering, maintaining syllabi each semester (electronic filing system), assist in financial preparation for student field trips, make copies of tests/class materials, testing/classroom proctor, Open House, be initial contact for student advisees including communication with faculty, maintaining advising files, and scheduling advisee meetings.

Meeting/Entertainment Organization

Agenda development, communication with faculty and/or staff regarding meetings, specialty meetings (retreats, end of the semester/year, parties)

Work Orders

IT/Media, computer/classroom issues, meeting/event set up, building maintenance


Maintaining Meeting Room Manager

Assisting Department Chair

Maintaining calendar, marking deadlines, maintaining meeting appointments

Maintaining Office

Answering phones/returning calls, communicating appropriate information to faculty/staff, maintaining filing system (order receipts, purchase receipts,  adjunct files), send/retrieve mail, interoffice/departments communications

Supervise Work Study Students

Other duties as assigned

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Normal environment found in an educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.

Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Some lifting and or carrying objects weighing 10+ pounds may be required. This position requires repetitive usage of arms, legs and eyes and includes standing to a significant degree.

Work Hours:

37.5 hours per week. Work hours designed to meet the needs of the chair, faculty, students and department.

Special Requirements:

Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Credit checks may be performed on employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. Due to insurance requirements, employees operating university vehicles must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and a good driving record. An MVR may be performed during the hiring process. All employees who operate university vehicles or who are employed in a sensitive position may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug screenings. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.
