School of Occupational Therapy faculty members Dr. Jennifer Allison and Amanda Buono recently received Certified Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner status from RJ Buckle Associates.
This certification, open only to licensed health care professionals, is a year-long process that requires over 375 hours of coursework, 40 case studies, a research study and cumulative exam. Both plan to incorporate their training in aromatherapy into their classroom instruction and clinical practice.
Allison uses aromatherapy to support clients with coping, modulation, addiction and sleep disorders. She is conducting research in the use of aromatherapy to support modulation in adults with developmental disabilities. Buono is researching the use of aromatherapy to support sleep in night-shift workers.
