The Gainesville Theatre Alliance invites audiences to “prepare ye the way” for a musical retelling of the gospel of Matthew in Godspell Feb. 14-25 in the Hosch Theatre at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts. Showtimes are Feb. 14-18 and 21-25 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 19 and 25 at 2:30 p.m.
A classic of the American musical theatre repertoire, Godspell is one of the first successful endeavors of Stephen Schwartz. “Since his early Godspell and Pippin days, Schwartz has become one of the most successful composers in Broadway and film history,” said guest director Alan Kilpatrick.
Tickets are $24/$26 for adults, $22-24 for seniors and $14/$16 for students, depending on seat location. There is also a special preview performance on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. with discounted tickets for $10.
