Beginning Monday, Aug. 27, the Brenau University Center for Counseling and Psychological Services in Norcross will be operating on its fall schedule.

The Norcross Center will be open:
Monday and Tuesday: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How would you schedule a counseling session? Call the center, provide some basic information and your assigned counselor will set up an appointment.

How much does it cost?
Students: $5 at intake; $5 per session
Alumni/faculty/staff: $25 intake; $15 per session
Community: $25 intake; $20 per session

Jacksonville campus hosts seminar: Workforce Issues in the 21st Century

On June 1, the Jacksonville campus hosted a seminar, Workplace Issues in the 21st Century, for area HR and business professionals. Through a panel discussion and multiple breakout sessions, Brenau instructors and business and education partners from the Jacksonville community addressed the topics of Building a Strong Workforce: Trends and Challenges; Workplace Harassment – Then and Now; Managing the Multi-generational Workforce; Challenges of an Educated Workforce; and Truths About Unconscious Bias in the Workplace. The well-attended event received excellent reviews.

Participants Needed for a Group-based Exercise Study

Have you been a caregiver for a family member or friend in the last three years? If so, do you meet the following criteria:

  • Are you a caregiver for someone over the age of 60?
  • Are you at least 60 years old?
  • As a caregiver, have you experienced weight loss, felt depressed or lonely, or needed help yourself?

If these apply to you, please come join our 12-week exercise and education program! The program will last one hour, one day a week and will be located at Brenau University’s Downtown Center. The goal of this study is to provide a group exercise and educational program to caregivers.

Free Eight-Week Exercising Safely Course

Brenau student physical therapists are hosting “This is My Health: Exercising Safely,” a free eight-week course of basic health knowledge and supervised exercise to help you exercise safely. Coordinated and led by Dr. Kathye Light, this course will be two hours once a week on Wednesdays, beginning with a basic education section followed by supervised aerobic, strength and flexibility training.

The program starts Wednesday, June 6, 1-3 p.m. The course will be held at the Brenau University Downtown Center. You can park in the free parking deck and enter in the front doors.

Center for Counseling and Psychological Services Summer Hours

Beginning May 14, the Brenau University Center for Counseling and Psychological Services will be operating on a summer schedule.

Both the Gainesville and Norcross centers will be open:

  • Monday: 1-8 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Department of Dance presents ‘LUCENT’ April 5-7

The Department of Dance will perform its annual Senior Thesis, Faculty and Guest Artist Concert “Lucent” Thursday, April 5, through Saturday, April 7, in Hosch Theatre, John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. April 5-7; there will also be a matinee at 2:30 p.m. on that Saturday.

This innovative and inspirational concert will showcase works from senior dance majors, faculty and acclaimed guest artists Kassandra Taylor Newberry and Juel Lane. Witness the creative excellence and versatility of Brenau’s talented artists and students.

Tickets are $7 general admission; $5 for seniors, children under 12, college students and Brenau alumni with valid ID; free for Brenau faculty, staff and students with ID.

New Gainesville Seventh Day Adventist church is seeking the talented Brenau student, faculty and staff singers who are interested in performing in a Good Friday program at 7 p.m. Friday, March 30.
