Gentle Chair Yoga is offered at 5:30 p.m. every Monday in the Brenau Downtown Center. Chair yoga is a great way to start your week off feeling relaxed in your body and your mind. It is only $10 per month and includes all other fitness classes offered by Life Enrichment and Wellness.

Brenau University Life Enrichment & Wellness Cooperative Fall Hours

Brenau Life Enrichment & Wellness Cooperative flyerThe Life Enrichment & Wellness Cooperative will have open, supervised gym hours this fall at the Downtown Center Monday-Thursday, 12:30-3 p.m. and 5-6 p.m.

There will be unsupervised gym hours every week day from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Membership is $10 per month with no contract commitment.

Brenau faculty and staff earn 1 Wellness point for attendance in classes, or using the wellness center. We offer weekly classes including Mindfulness Meditation, Chair Yoga, Tai Chi, EZ Tai Chi, and Intermediate Yoga. We also provide exercise consultation and physical therapy students are available to supervise workouts. Join us for our new Chair Yoga class. Yoga is an exercise that promotes strength, balance and flexibility. This class is intended for beginners of yoga to come relax and stretch while being safely seated. Chair Yoga meets Mondays from 5:30-6 pm in the Brenau Downtown Center.

As always, the Life Enrichment and Wellness Co-op is available for members of the community to experience physical and mental growth while having social support. Membership costs $10 a month, cash or check, with no contract. It includes unlimited fitness classes, exercise consultation and open gym hours for independent exercise. Water Aerobics in the Heat of the Summer

Join water aerobics class, hosted by Brenau’s Life Enrichment and Wellness Co-op, Mondays at 6 p.m. The class is held at Brenau University’s pool in the Fitness Center. Our water aerobics class is unique and perfect for the summer because the water is a cool temperature, allowing you to cool off after a hot summer’s day.

You can  join Life Enrichment for $10 a month (cash or check) with no start up fees or contracts. This membership includes unlimited access to our gym in the Downtown Center, unlimited fitness classes and exercise consultations with Doctor of Physical Therapy students. Brenau University Life Enrichment and Wellness Cooperative

The Brenau Life Enrichment and Wellness Cooperative re-opened on Monday, May 14, and has new hours for the summer semester. The student staffed hours are Monday-Thursday from 3:30-7 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For first-time members, you must come during these hours for your initial visit. Once you have been verified to exercise independently, you can use the gym whenever the Downtown Building is open, typically 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.

We also offer fitness classes including Yoga, Tai Chi, Mindfulness Meditation, Water Aerobics and Exercise Consultation with Dr. Freddy Solis, DPT. All of these activities are included in a $10 per month membership with no contract.

Mindful Meditation Class Tuesdays at Noon

Stress Reduction for the Holidays: Mindfulness Meditation FlyerJoin us for small group mindfulness meditation practice on Tuesdays at 12 noon (or whenever you can get there) at the Brenau Downtown Center, Dept. of Physical Therapy, room 134.

Mindfulness meditation is the ability to be fully present in the moment and not being reactive or overwhelmed by what is going on around us.

Mindfulness practice can help:

  • decrease stress
  • decrease blood pressure
  • decrease chronic pain
  • reduce stomach problems
  • reduce depression and anxiety
  • improve sleep
  • improve sense of well-being

Anyone can do mindfulness practice and benefit from even 15 minutes a day.

This group is sponsored by the Life Enrichment and Wellness Program in the Department of Physical Therapy.

 

Math, Writing and SAT Prep Tutor Needed

Tutor needed in math, writing and SAT prep for two high school boys. Available hours are after 4 p.m., evening and/or weekends. Must have references and own transportation to North Hall area. Pay is $15 per hour. Please contact Stacey Hoffman 352-256-9757.
