Gospel Choir Concert on Monday, March 11

Come join the Gospel Choir for a night of uplifiting music in Pearce Auditorium on Monday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.  Under the direction of Portia Burns, the Gospel Choir presents: “No Greater Love: A Musical Celebration of Easter”. 

The group also plans to perform “Thou Most High,” an original piece composed and arraigned by Burns, a Brenau University alumna who is also choral director for Gainesville Middle School.

This is a free and open event, so please come enjoy!

The Art of Theatre Exhibition Opening: Thursday, Jan. 31

What happens before the curtain opens?  This exhibition showcases the creative process of costume and scene design from sketch to reality and includes pieces from the Brenau University Theatre Department, the Gainesville Theatre Alliance and contributions by outside professionals.  Plus, there’s a dragon!

The opening reception of the exhibit is Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and it will run until March 31.

Fred Lloyd, co-curator of the show and Associate Professor of Theatre at Brenau, will give a talk about the work at 6:00 p.m.

Local Color Photography Show Opens Jan. 10

Local Color, an exhibit featuring photographs from local and regional artists, opens with a reception in the Sellars Gallery on Thursday, Jan. 10 from 5:30 – 7 p.m.

Local Color opens on Thursday, Jan. 10 with a reception in Sellars Gallery from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The show runs through Mar. 9 and normal gallery hours are from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The exhibit explores the work of local and regional photographers who have a tie to Brenau University and the Gainesville community. The photographs reveal the “local color” of northeast Georgia through landscape, portraiture and photojournalism.

The Brenau University Galleries invite you to a faculty/staff preview party of the exhibit Historical Perspectives: Ancient to Modern in Sellars Gallery on Dec. 13 from 4-5 p.m. It is a perfect opportunity to mingle with colleagues before the holidays and view the exceptional artwork housed in the Brenau University Permanent Art Collection. Refreshments will be served.

An open reception for the public will follow the faculty/staff preview party from 5-6:30 p.m.

Gainesville Ballet Company to perform The Nutcracker

The Gainesville Ballet Company presents a world of holiday magic during The Nutcracker.

The performance will feature Brenau University students Annette Barcelona, Courtney Lauria, Caitlin Hardegree, Savannah Long, and J Carly Reid. The shows will be held in Pearce Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m Saturday, Dec. 1, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. Tickets prices range between $11-30.
