APTA student membership drive culminates with forum led by PTAG president

person speaking

The Department of Physical Therapy recently completed a student membership drive with the American Physical Therapy Association.

The Reach100 membership drive was successful, resulting in 76% student membership and earning Brenau an honorable mention designation to be placed on banners at national conferences. Reach100 is a call for physical therapy students to demonstrate their commitment to APTA membership.

To celebrate this outcome, Brenau DPT welcomed Daniel Dale, president of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, to speak on the benefits of membership and advocacy within the field of physical therapy.

Tammy Buck collaborates with University of Florida endocrinologist Jennifer Miller

Tamara Buck, assistant professor of physical therapy

Dr. Tammy Buck will travel to Orlando, Florida on Thursday, Jan. 10 to collaborate with Dr. Jennifer Miller, an endocrinologist with the University of Florida Division of Endocrinology, whose focus is the research and treatment of children with Prader-Willi Syndrome.

Miller’s families are running the Disney World Half Marathon to raise funds in support of the UF-based program Running for Research. Miller has invited Buck to join efforts and provide a special give-back clinic for these children and their families. Buck will assess participating athletes, which will expedite their access to care. This clinic will open the door for future opportunities for Buck’s initiative, Together We Run, which is based out of south Atlanta but recently launched here in Gainesville.
