Sustainability Committee announces Solar Table

The Sustainability Committee is excited to announce the completion of Brenau University’s Solar Table next to the Tea Room.

The Solar Table has four USB ports with two electrical outlets and seats four students. The solar panels on top collect power from the sun during the day and charge a battery housed in the lower part of the base. Cell phones, laptops, portable computers or any device that can be plugged into a 120V outlet can be used and charged at this table. The Solar Table is equipped with LED lights that come on automatically in the evening, which provide a very bright yet warm environment to enjoy in the evening hours.

The people responsible for developing the concept to assembling the final bolt are Didi Cassell and Luther Headley from the Sustainability Committee, as well as Chris Ledbetter, Cody Lewellen, Jacob Low and Brian McAvoy from our maintenance staff.

Brenau University’s Sustainability Committee strives to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. If you have other project ideas please contact ude.uanerb@llessacd. Current members of the Sustainability Committee also include Kevin Mace, Gay Hammond, Thomas Waters, Dana Edge and Blaine Schultz. This project was a collaboration between Brenau University and Aramark.
