Charles Webster Hawthorne works on display

Artworks from our ongoing special exhibition “Charles Webster Hawthorne: Paintings from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ivester” are on display for all to view at the Theatre on the Square Lobby in the Brenau Downtown Center.

On loan from the collection of Doug and Kay Ivester are 29 oil paintings and watercolors by American artist Charles Webster Hawthorne (1872-1930). Renowned for his portraits and genre paintings, Hawthorne was instrumental in the founding of the Cape Cod School of Art in 1899. This ongoing exhibition highlights a selection of works representative of Hawthorne’s style.

Brenau Galleries was joined by the Ivesters, Brenau’s Ivester College of Health Sciences and friends of the university for a wonderful reception celebrating this exhibition on Nov. 8. You can continue to view the works during normal business hours at the Downtown Center, too. For more information call 770.534.6263 or go to galleries.brenau.edu.
