These days, we’re spending more time at work and sitting in front of a screen than ever before. We’re becoming less active, which can increase our risk of heart disease, stroke and other diseases.
As part of Brenau’s health and wellness initiative, the HR office encourages you to take the first step to a healthier life by taking part in the Brenau Walking Group, which meets at 4 p.m. each Friday afternoon on the Gainesville campus.
On the day of the event, participants are encouraged to lace up their sneakers and take 30 minutes out of their day to get up and walk. This can be your first step toward a longer, stronger and healthier life.
Did you know? For every hour of brisk walking, life expectancy for some people may increase by two hours. The American Heart Association recommends adults get at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week.
The walking group will meet at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at the entrance to Golden Tiger Way. Participates will earn one Wellness Activity Point. To join the Brenau Walking Group, please contact Kelley Maddox at ude.uanerb@xoddamk.
