Suzanne Pickering, clinical adjunct instructor in the School of Occupational Therapy, received the 2018 Impact Partner Award by Community Friendship Inc. for her work with occupational therapy students. CFI is a nonprofit mental health organization that serves adults in metro Atlanta.
Pickering has facilitated occupational therapy student-led groups for CFI members on topics such as cultural awareness, health and wellness, money management, relaxation, mindfulness, and community involvement.
The award describes her as having, “an energy and drive to not only teach her students, but to help them learn how to interact and connect with the members on a human level. She is always upbeat and positive and you can tell that comes from her heart. You can’t teach that. She is a joy to be around and we see such a benefit for the members … for us all, really … when Susanne and her students are here.”
