Dr. Krisi Probert, associate professor in the School of Occupational Therapy, presented an alternative payment system to the physician-focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC), a subcommittee of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
This model was the first therapist-centered model written and presented for consideration to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Probert partnered in this proposal with Upstream Rehabilitation where she serves as senior vice president of clinical development. This model will increase accessibility to basic wound care services for Medicare beneficiaries in rural communities by allowing provision of those services by physical and occupational therapists.
Her proposal will be presented next to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation for piloting into the Medicare and Medicaid program.
