Brenau’s Music Ensembles Open to Students, Faculty, Staff and Community

The Brenau University Department of Music has opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members to share their talents and love of music by joining any of the three open ensembles: The Gospel Choir, Spectrum Singers and Spectrum Winds. Students may also choose to add these ensembles as a one-credit course.

Have you ever wanted to be a part of an ensemble that not only sounded good, but fed your soul as well? The Brenau Gospel Choir is here to satisfy those needs. The Gospel Choir meets every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the choir room on the third floor of the Burd Center (Burd 345). Students may choose to register for the Gospel Choir as a one-credit course (MC 130.01). Please contact director Portia Burns at pburns1@brenau.edu for more information.

All interested singers are invited to join Spectrum Singers. This non-auditioned mixed choral group is open to Brenau students, faculty, staff and community members who love to sing and want to perform in a choir. Students may choose to register for Spectrum Singers (MC 120.01) to receive one credit. This choral group rehearses Mondays from 5-6:30 p.m. in Thurmond McRae. Finally, Spectrum Winds is a wind ensemble consisting of woodwinds, brass and percussion. The ensemble is open to students, faculty, staff and community members of all levels and performs a wide range of popular, multi-cultural and traditional styles of music. Check out Spectrum Winds on “That Mancini Magic” on YouTube. Students may also choose to register for Spectrum Winds as a one-credit course (MC 160.01).
