Trustee Library Staff Scholarly Research and Awards

The Brenau Trustee Library staff members have received several awards and will make prestigious presentations to help represent Brenau in the community.

Brenau librarians Linda Kern and Kimberly Boyd will present at the Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy on Sept. 15-16 in Savannah. Their presentation, “Building Relationships: Mapping the Journey from One-Shots to a Strategic Program of Information Literacy Instruction” will focus on developing a strategic instruction program across university curricula and within individual majors.

Kimberly Boyd is one of the recipients of the Georgia Library Association Team Award for her work with GLA’s Carterette Webinar Series, which develops and hosts free professional development webinars for librarians across the globe.

In November, Amanda Roper will present at the Library Marketing and Communications Conference in Dallas, Texas. Her presentation, “But I Want to Do It All! Social Media Strategies for the Small Academic Library” will discuss creating an effective social media management program.

Roper is also the winner of the Georgia Library Association’s Hubbard Scholarship for students pursing a Master’s in Library and Information Science. Amanda is currently pursuing her MLIS at Valdosta State University where she is focusing on information literacy instruction and library communications.
