Beginning next Wednesday, Sept. 6, you may discover some strange, undead activity in the library.
This fall, First Year Experience students will learn to use information literacy skills by playing a zombies-versus-humans game. The game was developed by librarian Kimberly Boyd and library specialist Amanda Roper after researching other university libraries that employ gamification to teach information literacy.
Learning objectives for the game include searching the library catalog for books, evaluating resources, finding a research guide and using our Ask-A-Librarian service. The added fun involves three teams, six Nerf guns and plenty of brains.
The game runs at the library every Monday and Wednesday from 12:30-1:50 p.m. and will end just before Halloween. If you’d like to follow along with the fun on social media, use the tag #bringyourbrains2017. We’ll be documenting the battle between humans and zombies on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
