Tree Planted in Honor of Earth Day, Retiring Provost Dr. Krippel

Brenau students, faculty and staff gathered Thursday afternoon on the Sorority Circle with two reasons to celebrate.

A reception was held in honor of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Nancy Krippel, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Denise Smith, associate professor of accounting, presented Krippel with a plaque that dedicates a new Eastern Redbud tree on campus in her name.

The tree dedication was a surprise for Krippel, and was one of the final events throughout the week in observance of Earth Day Saturday, April 22.

Brenau celebrated Earth Week with a scavenger hunt, viewing of the movie The Lorax, recycling competitions and evenings of early “lights out” to conserve energy. The events were organized by the Environmental Sustainability Committee and the president’s council of student leaders.
