No. 2 Brenau Softball Secures Top Spot in Conference Championship

The No. 2 Golden Tigers softball team secured the top seed in the 2017 Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season championship after winning the first game of its doubleheader 3-2 Tuesday against Faulkner University at Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Park.

In Game 2 of the doubleheader, the Golden Tigers shut out the visiting Eagles 5-0 to remain undefeated in SSAC play at 24-0 and set a new program high for regular-season wins with an overall record of 45-5. No team has ever finished the SSAC regular season undefeated. The Golden Tigers have two conference games remaining on the 2017 schedule.

Brenau celebrated the historic first season at Grindle Park Tuesday with a program thanking Doug and Kay Ivester and the Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation, which provided funding for the construction of the park, as well as Pacolet-Milliken Enterprises, which donated the land.
