The Brenau University Golden Tigers golf team will host the third annual Golden Tigers Spring Invitational collegiate golf tournament Monday and Tuesday, March 20-21, at Chattahoochee Golf Club, 3000 Club Drive. The two-day, 36-hole tournament, which features more than 90 college athletes, begins at 9 a.m. both days. The event is free and open to the public.
This is the tournament’s second year at Chattahoochee Golf Club. The Brenau golf team plays four events in the fall and five in the spring, and it doesn’t have many opportunities to compete at home like the other 13 Golden Tigers sports teams, since its golf matches are usually played at other universities. The golf invitational was organized to give Brenau golfers an opportunity to host and play at home.
“Providing my team with an opportunity to compete at home is very important, especially to my players,” said Brenau head coach Damon Stancil. “As college golfers, we don’t have stands of fans to cheer us on, but playing at home does give the players’ family, Brenau friends, sorority sisters and local supporters a chance to see them compete.”
