Brenau President Ed Schrader announced Monday that Dr. James (Jim) C. Eck from Louisburg College in Louisburg, North Carolina, will join the administration at the end of the current academic year to replace Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost Nancy Krippel when she retires.
Krippel announced before the beginning of the 2016-17 year that she planned to retire on June 30. Schraders said Eck arrives June 1 so there will be some overlapping time for a smoother transition. Eck currently serves as provost at Louisburg where he has worked since June 2010.
“Jim Eck will be an excellent leader for the outstanding faculty at Brenau University,” said Schrader, president of the institution. “With his reputation for integrity and professionalism, he has made academic programs better everywhere he has been.”
Schrader said the university picked Eck in a nationwide search to find a replacement for Krippel, who came to Brenau in 2011. The decision followed visits to the campus by Eck and other finalists that included private meetings with some faculty and administrators as well as open forums for students, faculty and staff. In a separate message earlier Monday, Schrader thanked members of the search committee who oversaw the search and selection and members of the Brenau family who participated in the interviews and campus visits and provided feedback.
