The fall 2016 Georgia Art Education Association conference will be held on both the historic Gainesville campus and at the Brenau Downtown Center next Thursday, Oct. 13 – Sunday, Oct. 16. The four-day conference, co-sponsored by Brenau and the University of North Georgia, is expected to draw over 200 art educators from around the state. The event will offer art educators the opportunity to take workshops and engage with other art educators.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Alexandra “Lexi” Cutcher, senior lecturer in Arts and Education at Southern Cross University in Queensland, Australia. Lexi is the author of “Displacement, Identity and Belonging: An Auto/Biographical, Arts-based Portrayal of Ethnicity and Experience.” In addition to the keynote address at this year’s Gala, Dr. Cutcher will conduct a hands-on workshop incorporating practical professional learning strategies at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the University of North Georgia in Oakwood.
The Brenau Downtown Center will serve as the base of operations for the conference, but many workshops will also take place on the historic Gainesville campus. Please welcome our visitors if you see them around campus next week.
