The Gainesville Times featured 89.1 WBCX FM today as the station celebrates its 40th anniversary this month. The radio station was founded in 1976, with the efforts of Brenau professors Clara Martin and James Bridwell as well as those of John Jacobs, longtime Brenau trustee and benefactor and owner of Jacobs Media.
Today the station has about 30 students involved in its operation in some form. Jay Andrews, director of broadcasting & digital communications and the station’s first student manager, said: “I think WBCX is going to be here quite a while.”
