Dennis Campay, Brenau’s first official master artist, was recently featured in the July issue of The Addison Independent’s Arts & Leisure section to discuss his art career and technique. Campay’s work is displayed in various locations all over Brenau’s Jacksonville campus, as well as at the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont.
“I paint like a jazz player,” Campay said. “I’ve got a rhythm going, a beat and I see some kind of movement going on one part of my surface and I take it to another part…you could call it jazzy – I don’t know. I do.”
