The Wild and Scenic Film Festival will be held Saturday, May 14, at the Brenau Downtown Center in Gainesville. Chattahoochee Riverkeeper has put together a selection of films that illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet and the work communities are doing to protect the environment.
The doors open at 6 p.m. for a local non-profit Environmental Expo. The films start at 7 p.m. and go until about 9:30 p.m., with an intermission in between. There will be raffles for prizes including a kayak from The Outside World Outfitters, paddling trips, cabin stays on the river and certificates for eating and entertainment in Dahlonega. There will also be giveaways from many Gainesville businesses. We will be providing free beer and refreshments as well.
Funds raised will help expand the Headwater’s Neighborhood Water Watch Program, which increases public awareness of water quality issues and provides tools and training for citizens, neighborhood groups, schools and communities to monitor and protect their local waterways.
Tickets are $5 for students and senior citizens, $10 for CRK Members and $15 at the door (includes membership). Tickets can be purchased at www.Chattahoochee.org/wildscenic.
