Brenau Track & Field Receives SSAC Awards

The accolades keep coming for the 2016 Southern States Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Champion Golden Tigers, including the conference 2015-16 Coach of the Year title for Brenau head track coach Byron Kramer.

The first-year head coach led the team to its fourth consecutive conference championship in Mobile, Alabama, where the Golden Tigers wrapped up the SSAC title with a 138-point lead over the second place finisher, New Orleans-based Loyola University, on April 23. This also marks the fourth consecutive Coach of the Year title for Brenau since Kramer’s predecessor, Richard Ludwig, won the three previous titles.

The SSAC also recognized junior Aubrey Fearnow from Arnoldsville, Georgia, as the 2016 SSAC Field Athlete of the Year and freshman Ayana Daniels from Snellville, Georgia, as the 2016 SSAC Freshman Field Athlete of the Year. Fearnow won both the hammer throw and shot put competitions in Mobile and Daniels won the pole vault event.
