There will be an Earth Day celebration Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Rock Creek Park Amphitheater in Gainesville, across from the Hall County Public Library on Academy Street.
Mark Farmer, chair of Biological Sciences at the University of Georgia and John Cromartie, retired reverend of Cumming First United Methodist Church, will give short talks about climate change, population growth and our future. The lectures will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Gainesville First Baptist Senior Pastor Bill Coates, among other community members.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the outdoor event. This celebration is free and open to the public. Call (770) 536-2341 for more details.
