The Northeast Georgia History Center will present this month’s Family Day Sunday, April 10, at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Across five Aprils the people of Georgia experienced what has been called “the first modern war,” the American Civil War. For this event, titled “Bitterly Divided: Union Sentiment and Civic Dissent in Georgia’s Civil War,” the History Center will focus on telling the forgotten or little known stories of the home front in Georgia, with Museum Theatre performances, hands-on activities, living history interpretation and demonstrations of 1860s-era weapons.
The Northeast Georgia History Center is located at 322 Academy Street NE in Gainesville. For more information, call (770) 297-5900.
