Alpha Gamma Delta planted a magnolia tree outside Brenau’s Science Building April 4 to commemorate the lives of two alumnae who died last year.

The memorial is to honor Jessica Walker, WC ’03, who died Nov. 5, and Samantha Carson, WC  ’11, who died Aug. 20.

“We decided to plant a tree in dedication them in front of the Science Building because Samantha was a biology major and Jessica was a music major, back when they used Geiger Hall a lot,” said Alpha Gamma Delta President McKenzie Stevens, a middle grades education junior from Oglethorpe County, Georgia. “We thought it would be a nice gesture for them and their families.”

An official memorial dedication is planned for May Day on April 16.
