The Gainesville historic campus celebrates Fat Tuesday Feb. 9 with a fete open to students, faculty and other members of the Brenau community.
The Mardi Gras celebration takes place in the SUB above the Tea Room. Following a brief presentation on the history of Shrove Tuesday and some Zydeco music, the traditional king cake will be carved up, with whoever winds up with the plastic baby figurine being crowned queen or king of the party. And be sure to bring a mask, as the carnival wraps up with a masquerade contest.
The festivities are from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and feel free to bring along the kids – the event is open to all ages.
