One of Atlanta’s most talented musical collectives is gearing up for a performance at Brenau University later this week. The Terminus Ensemble of Contemporary Music, a critically acclaimed consortium of composers who have been playing throughout the Southeast since 2011, will hold a concert at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts at the Gainesville historic campus Thursday, Feb. 4.
In the past, the group has played at Georgia State University, The University of Tennessee and the University of Georgia. The ensemble’s current roster includes performers who have also played alongside the Atlanta Ballet, the Atlanta Chamber Players and the Clibber Jones Ensemble.
“When I went to see a performance of theirs last spring, I was particularly impressed that these young musicians were not that much older than our students,” said Barbara Steinhaus, chair of Brenau’s Department of Music. “I want our students to see what other young musicians are doing, to hear their ideas and to hopefully get inspired by this exposure to them.”
The performance begins at Banks Recital Hall at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
