With help from the Brenau International Club, students donated two parcels of clothing to the Malala Fund earlier this month. The packages are now en route to impoverished regions of the Middle East and Africa.
“We spent some time collecting gently used clothing during the move-out from the residence halls in Decemeber,” said Biology/Biomedical Science senior Sabura Aleem. “The Malala Fund is a shining example in promoting sustainability through the empowerment of young women in countries where they traditionally encounter cultural and economic barriers.”
The Malala Fund is named after activist Malala Yousafzai, whose efforts to expand educational access for women in Pakistan garnered her the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
