First History Center Family Day of 2016 is Jan. 10

The Northeast Georgia History Center’s first Family Day event of 2016 is this Saturday, Jan. 10. The free festivities focus on the history of Georgia, examining Paleo and Mississippian Native American cultures, 16th century European explorers such as Hernando de Soto and the 18th century natural philosopher William Bartram, who famously traveled amongst the state’s indigenous Cherokee and Creek tribes.

The hands-on activities, living history interpretations and demonstrations of 16th century arms and armor begin at 1 p.m.
