With a gregarious nature, professionalism, helpfulness and strong work ethic, School of Occupational Therapy Operations Manager Carol Eggerding on Dec. 11 received the 2015 Hagerman-Thompson Staff Excellence Award.
“Since she joined the School of Occupational Therapy, she has always gone above and beyond to support all of the faculty and staff members,” wrote one of Eggerding’s colleagues on a nomination form. “She always agrees to help with a smile, no matter what other responsibilities she has.”
Eggerding began working at Brenau in 2010. She oversees occupational therapy operations at both the Gainesville and Norcross campuses and recently became an administrative assistant for the Institutional Review Board Committee for the College of Health Sciences. In addition to assisting with the recruitment and hiring of administrative personnel, she also contributes to Brenau by helping with coding, graduation ceremonies and other university events.
“I don’t think I would have made it through the first year without her help and guidance,” one coworker wrote. “She is unfailingly kind to everyone and never too busy to help people.” Said another: “Brenau is fortunate to have her as a member of our staff. Without her, the School of OT – with its four year-round programs – simply could not operate.”
The annual award, Brenau’s highest accolade for staff members, is named after Dr. Ron Hagerman and Ione Thompson. Hagerman was Brenau’s Director of Institutional Research from 1995 until his death in 2004 and Thompson, who died in 2008, was a senior staff member at Brenau’s Child Development Center. Senior Vice president David L. Barnett presented the award at the annual faculty-staff holiday party on the Gainesville campus.
