The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce named Brenau one of the area’s healthiest employers at their 2015 Most Fit Company Awards.
The honor was bestowed upon the university at the ninth-annual HealthSmart Expo held at the Gainesville Civic Center on Oct. 7.
Brenau received kudos for its fitness center, employee safety training, weight-loss programs and multidisciplinary employee and student services, such as the Center for Health and Wellbeing and the Life Enrichment and Wellness Center.
Then there’s the renowned “Brenau Mile,” which loops around the historic Gainesville campus.
Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kit Dunlap – a 1964 Women’s College graduate who currently sits on the Brenau Board of Trustees – said the amenity is a great resource, not only for the university but the entire Gainesville community.
“I know of several business people and other individuals outside of Brenau who regularly take that walking route,” she said. “It encourages wellness for the Brenau family, its students and the public.”
