The Tea Room, one of the most popular hangout spots on the historic Gainesville campus, has been fully renovated and rechristened as P.O.D. – Provisions on Demand.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the all-in-wonder shop took place Wednesday, October 7.
With a redecorated student lounge, the new facility serves as something of a miniature convenience store, complete with refrigerated sodas, deli meats, frozen snacks and microwavable meals. There is even a newfangled F’real milkshake and smoothie maker on tap.
There are also plenty of daily essentials stocked, so students no longer have to venture off campus for chips, candy, detergent, air freshener spray, lip balm, batteries or trash bags.
Count senior history major Quanesha Davis as a fan. “It’s a nice upgrade, and much needed,” she said.
Express restaurants Grille Works, Field of Greens and Brewed Awakenings remain in the same building. The new shop is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and 4 to 10 p.m. on Sunday. It is closed on Saturdays.
