When the Bulldogs host the Crimson Tide this weekend, there won’t be a whole lot of love going around in Athens, Georgia. However, there is plenty of amour to be found with Athens residents Dr. Shelton Bellew and Elizabeth Louis Stutz, who wed earlier this summer.
Bellew, an assistant professor of Italian and the coordinator of Brenau’s Modern Languages Department, tied the knot with Stutz, a Trader Joe’s merchandising manager and independent design consultant, on Aug. 8, at the University of Georgia Chapel.
The two met five years ago in Cortona, Italy. Once they returned stateside, they reconnected at a mutual friend’s party. Ever the romantic, Bellew proposed by presenting Stutz with a copy of Dante Alighieri’s La Vita Nuova — A New Life– with a special message asking her if she wanted to “start another chapter” as husband and wife.
