Casey Cagle, Georgia’s lieutenant governor and a former state senator for the 49th district, is scheduled to make an appearance at Brenau University next week.
The Gainesville, Georgia native will visit Brenau’s Child Development Center on the Gainesville historic campus on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. to promote the Department of Early Care and Learning’s Georgia Reads Aloud literacy program.
Child Development Center Director Heather Lyons said the initiative speaks volumes about the state’s commitment to pre-K education. She is also extremely proud that Lt. Gov. Cagle selected one of Brenau’s pre-K classes to highlight the importance of early education programs.
“Reading is such an integral part of a child’s development, as it not only helps develop basic speech, but relationships,” she said. “It means a lot to me, as the director, that someone who is such a pillar in our community takes time out of their day to spend time with our students.”
However, with a grandbaby due shortly, there is a possibility Lt. Gov. Cagle may have to cancel the visit.
