The Gainesville Theatre Alliance’s latest WonderQuest production, The Adventures of Pecos Bill, begins Friday, Oct. 2.
The show runs through Saturday, Oct. 10. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m on Oct. 2, 3, 9 and 10, and a matinee performance is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4.
All performances will be held at the Pearce Auditorium at the historic Gainesville campus. A free “meet the actors” reception is planned following Friday’s opening night performance, while a free ice cream social is planned following the Oct. 4 show.
Gay Hammond, WonderQuest director and assistant professor of theatre at Brenau, said the post-show events are designed to broaden kids’ outlooks on the performing arts.
“WonderQuest has introduced young audiences to the fascinating world of theatre, and the importance of both imagination and empathy, since 1974,” she said. “While we do expand their perception of what theatre is, we feel it is the most important job of the theatre to expand their perceptions of what the world is, and how human beings connect.”
Adult tickets are $10 to $12, children’s tickets are $7 to $8. For more information, please visit http://www.gainesvilletheatrealliance.org or call (678) 717-3624.
