An opening reception ceremony and gallery talk for the ongoing “Behind the Seams: Caring for Historic Clothing” exhibit is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Simmons Visual Arts Center on the Gainesville historic campus.
The free public event will take place at the Presidents Gallery from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The exhibition showcases recent research and conservation efforts by students and faculty to preserve garments and accessories in the Brenau University Historic Clothing Collection. The informal talk, set to begin at 6 p.m., will delve into the intricacies of caring for the antique apparel, as well as the historical and cultural significance of the sartorial arts.
