Thanks to the Georgia Rotary Student Program, 19-year-old Amelia “Millie” Pantain will get to spend the 2015-16 academic year at Brenau University.
Paintain, a native of Netley, England, left her parents and younger brother in Southhampton more than 4,000 miles away to experience Brenau’s rich liberal arts programs. Having already completed two years of college, she said she plans on joining the illustrious Royal Navy to finish her nursing degree.
Since 1946, Rotarians in Georgia have offered one-year scholarships for international students to study in the state’s colleges and universities. The Georgia Rotary Student Program scholarship, which was facilitated with the help of the Rotary Club of Southhampton, will pay for Pantain’s tuition, book costs, meals and a college-provided dorm room.
