Women’s College Alumna Christina Jundt Celebrates North Georgia History with Lakefront Play

Christina Jundt (WC ’13) is currently producing a play on Lake Lanier – literally.

The production company she and her boyfriend Rob Brooksher founded, Wild Air Playhouse, is performing “Half Mile Down” at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue, 3105 Clarks Bridge Road in Gainesville, through Aug. 16.

The play about a fictitious community coping with an impending flood was inspired by local history. When the Buford Dam was completed in 1956, the newly created reservoir soon engulfed more than 38,000 acres of the northeast Georgia countryside.

Jundt’s play is a love story punctuated by folk humor. She said the lakeside scenery adds great atmosphere to the production.

“The lake serves a character unto itself that helps tell the story,” Jundt said. “It wouldn’t be the same experience without the lake in the background.”

Adult tickets are $10. Children under 10 and students with college IDs get in for $5. Children under 2 are admitted free of charge.

All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. To order tickets and learn more about the show, visit http://www.wildairplayhouse.com.
