Kerry Kurt Phillips and Jason Matthews Perform at Downtown Center Saturday, Aug. 8

The 2015 Summer Songwriters Series wraps up Saturday, Aug. 8 with back-to-back performances from country heavyweights Kerry Kurt Phillips and Jason Matthews. The concert will be held at the Theatre on the Square at the Brenau University Downtown Center, 301 Main St. in Gainesville, at 8 p.m.

Phillips’s songs have garnered more than 45 million records sales. Among other tracks, he penned Billy Ray Cyrus’s “It’s All the Same To Me,” Tim McGraw’s “Down on the Farm” and George Jones’s “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.” North Carolina native Matthews has also seen his fair share of success as a songwriter. His credits include Billy Currington’s “Must Be  Doin’ Something Right,” Julie Roberts’s “Break Down Here” and Chris Young’s “Lonely Eyes.”
