Brenau occupational therapy students Andrew Jackson, Andrea Garcia Rodriguez and Megan Barber, and physical therapy students Matt Laudel and Jason Thelen, volunteered time working the booth at the 14th annual ADA Memorial 5K, 9K, and 1M Race on the Gainesville square last Saturday, July 25. Brenau students and faculty members also competed in the races.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities that are like those provided to individuals on the basis of race, sex, national origin, and religion. The proceeds from the ADA Memorial Race benefit Access to a Better Tomorrow, Inc. a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure Georgians with disabilities have equal opportunities to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
