Please join Brenau Athletics as they give a special farewell to Swim Coach Blaire Bachman and Track & Field Coach Rick Ludwig on Tuesday, June 16th, at 4:00 pm in the Lockett-Mitchell Parlor on the Gainesville historic campus.
Coach Bachman is leaving to pursue an assistant swim coach position with NCAA Division I Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Bachman has been the ASC Coach of the Year four straight years in a row. In 2014, Bachman was named NAIA Co-Coach of the Year for her team’s fourth place finish at the NAIA National Championships, and in 2015, her squad earned a third place – the highest in program history. During her tenure, Bachman has coached 16 individual All-Americans and six All-American relay teams.
Coach Ludwig has been at the helm of training an excellent track & field program since it’s 2013 inception. Under his leadership, the team has won the SSAC Championship three years in a row, and Ludwig has been named SSAC Coach of the Year all three years as well. The team was also awarded its first NAIA All-American in program history with junior Olamide “Lammy” Sokunbi’s eighth place finish in the 100 meter dash (12.06) at the 2015 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Ludwig will be moving to Texas to be closer to family.
“Both coaches have done a phenomenal job of elevating their individual programs to be recognized on a regional and national level, and I am certainly appreciative of all their hard work these past years developing some extraordinary athletes,” said Athletic Director Mike Lochstampfor. “They will be greatly missed by many on this campus, and we wish them both well in their new pursuits.”
Please stop by on Tuesday to give best wishes to these veteran coaches.
