The Inter Design 275 ID Process freshman class recently visited the sorority houses under construction on the Gainesville historic campus. “It was a great learning opportunity as there are four houses all in different stages of construction. We were able to see the process from framing, to construction system install, to sheetrock and molding details, and finally to finished spaces through a tour of the four houses,” Lynn M. Jones, chair of interior design commented. Robby Stanfill, superintendent from Carroll Daniel Construction, guided the class through the construction process.
The class’ next project uses the Student Union Building, the space above the Brenau Tea Room, as a base for the design of Web Management and Design company on the first floor and condominiums on the second. Students had to measure the building to draw up the base plan. A warm cup of coffee and hot chocolate was in order following the wet and chilly outdoor activities.
