Georgia Power representatives Cathy Parker and Darrell Snyder presented David Barnett and Mike Hollimon with a rebate check of $3,142.20 for on campus efforts made to reduce energy consumption. As part of a comprehensive sustainability effort to reduce energy consumption being spearheaded by the Facilities and Maintenance department under the leadership of Mike Hollimon, Brenau qualified for this and future rebates through the replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lights. Parker commented that Hollimon’s efforts to reduce the consumption of electricity is commendable and noteworthy. The replacement of lights with more energy efficient options is a project that will some time to fully achieve, but it is already paying off in multiple ways. This is an example of other projects that include the replacement of an antiquated energy grid with a modern system and inclusion of more energy efficient infrastructure in new construction.
