Senior Testing and Assessment Day Feb.11

Attention Women’s College and Gainesville Day Faculty and Staff:
Please note one small change in Assessment Day Schedule: the WC session in Pearce Auditorium with Debra Dobkins will start at 1 p.m. (not 1:15 p.m.) and she asks that your major sessions end at noon to allow students time for lunch (if you are not providing the latter). The message below is going out to students; thank you for reviewing and spreading positive vibrations to your students.

Graduating Senior Testing and Annual Assessment Day Requirements from the Office of Assessment

Attention graduating Seniors:
A reminder that all graduating seniors are required to take the nationally compared ETS Proficiency Profile test of college-level skills as a graduation requirement this year. There is no need for special preparation for this test, but we ask all students to give your best effort as it reflects on Brenau University (and therefore on the value of your diploma). Many but not all Women’s College and Gainesville Day seniors will test on Assessment Day in Redwine/Library at 8:30 a.m./(Feb. 11). Some majors, however, have scheduled their graduating seniors for other dates and locations. Please check with your major department or contact the Assessment Office if you are unsure.

Attention Full-time Women’s College and Gainesville Undergraduate Students:
A reminder that our annual Assessment Day is Wednesday, February 11th starting at8:30 AM. Attendance in the day’s events is required.

What is Assessment Day?
Assessment Day is an annual event that allows us to bring students together in their majors with their major professors for various evaluations and activities that help us explore factors impacting student success and make improvements in our programs. Activities vary from major to major, but might include outside speakers, surveys, critical thinking evaluations, measures of writing skills, focus group discussions or team building exercises. This year all students will participate in viewing and discussing in small groups a video related to using critical thinking skills which are a special focus of Brenau as part of our Quality Enhancement Plan. Your department chair and faculty will be able to give you more details regarding the session in your major.

Because we want input from all our students, Assessment Day is required of all full time students (12 or more credits) though some majors may ask students with fewer credits to participate. We ask you to make arrangements with your employers and childcare givers if necessary as you would for a required course. We put annual Assessment Day on the master calendar and in the catalog, and try to give as much advance notice as possible, as we value the input from all our students.
