“GEORGIA COMMUTE OPTIONS” Helps Take the Edge Off Getting to Work

Snow_GainesvilleIt won’t be long now before Georgia winter shows its teeth again. Whether you work at one of Brenau’s Gainesville locations or in Norcross or Fairburn, the Greater Atlanta area has made driving difficult with ever-increasing volumes of traffic. The winter storms we can expect during the next 3 months are going to bring additional hazards, delays, and stress for all motorists.

Long-term solutions such as increased transit services, roadway improvements, and enhanced safety engineering take time and planning. Immediate remedies are offered by Georgia Commute Options (GCO) with free services to help commuters and their employers deal with traffic congestion in our region. By removing cars from the road, we can reduce traffic congestion. And we don’t have to do it alone.

The program offers the following incentives:

• $3 a Day – by switching from driving alone, you can earn $3 a day, up to $100. Commuters who live or work in any of the following Georgia counties are eligible: Barrow, Bartow, Bibb, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Floyd, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Spalding and Walton.

• $25 Prizes – when you log clean commute trips with Georgia Commute Options, you are entered into a monthly drawing to win a $25 gift card

• $40-$60 Gas Cards – carpools of 3 or more people can receive monthly gas cards from $40-$60.

GCO also provides a free ride-matching service to assist in finding carpool partners, identify the best transit routes, and provide a Guaranteed Ride Home service if you ever have an emergency or get stuck at work and can’t take your normal ride home.

To get involved, you only need to carpool, vanpool, ride transit, telework, walk or bike to work. Detailed information about GCO’s incentive programs and other free services is available at gacommuteoptions.com or by contacting Rudi Kiefer, Director of Sustainability, at ude.uanerb@refeikr.
