Run and Have Fun at the “Brenau 5K” during Homecoming Weekend

Brenau University Athletics will hold its first “Brenau 5K” community race during its homecoming weekend on Saturday, Oct. 4. The event, open for public participation, benefits the Brenau University Athletic Booster Club.

The registration fee is $15 until Oct. 3 and includes an event t-shirt. Registration on race day is $20. Participation is free for Brenau faculty, staff, students and alumni.

The Brenau 5K will begin on the main campus front lawn, at the corner of Boulevard and Washington Street, at 8 a.m., with sign-in and registration beginning at 7 a.m. The race will run until 10 a.m. and finish at the starting point.

“This is a great opportunity for families, running enthusiasts and Brenau supporters to get out and have fun together,” said Brenau Golden Tigers Head Swim Coach Blaire Bachman. “This program is as much for the Gainesville community as it is for Brenau students and alumni.”

Parking will be available at the Northeast Georgia History Center, John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts and the Jacobs Building lots.

Sponsored by Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, Papa John’s and Jimmy John’s of Gainesville, the three-lap course goes around the main campus, on what is considered “The Brenau Mile.”

Boulevard, Prior, Park, Spring and Candler streets will be closed off during the time of the race as they will be used for the 5K course. Brenau campus security and Gainesville Police officers will assist residents on that route by keeping the runners on one side of the road.

Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Orthopedic & Sports Medicine and Papa John’s of Gainesville will pass out goodies, drinks and snacks to the participants.
